An Artist Proof is
a print especially for the artist and excluded from the numbering of a limited edition. An artist usually receives one tenth of the edition for their personal use. They are hand signed or approved by the artist as "A/P" or "Artist Proof" and then sold as Special Collector's Editions. They are most often sought after by collectors in that there are fewer signed in this way.
